FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Florida Gulf Coast University women’s swimming and diving team returns home from its victory over Florida International University for a pair of dual meets against Atlantic Sun Conference opponent University of North Florida on Friday and Saturday at the FGCU Aquatics Complex.
Friday’s meet is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start, followed by a noon Saturday start. Saturday’s meet is Senior Day, where the Eagles will honor Mia Burke, Jordan Durocher, Nadia Helm, Lily Magda and Libby Russum.
FGCU (2-1, 0-1 ASUN) is coming off a 178-121 dual-meet win over FIU in Miami last Saturday. In that meet, Russum and Burke helped lead the Eagles to a win in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:40.57. Helm finished second in the 1,000 freestyle (1:53.75). Russum won the 50 free (23.23), and Magda won the 500 free (5:07.11). Russum and Burke helped the team earn a win in the 400 free relay (3:25.04).
FGCU Head Coach Dave Rollins spoke with The Eagle Sports Report after the FIU meet about the legacy his senior class is leaving behind.
“I think they’ve seen quite a transformation over the last four years. When they were freshmen we finished fourth in the conference and that was kind of an eye-opening experience for us. The conference has gone through fluctuation. Our team was going through a bit of a rebuild phase and ever since then it’s continued to slowly climb up third, to second and hopefully walking away with the trophy this year. They’ve been essential in helping us continue to grow and develop and hopefully we can continue that moving forward,” Rollins said.

The relay team of Torres, Brooke Bourn, Riley McCormick and Abby Noga won the 200 free relay in 1:38.11.
