FORT MYERS, Fla. — Florida Gulf Coast University softball team will host in-state rival No. 23 Florida Atlantic University at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the FGCU Softball Complex.

The Eagles (4-5) are looking to bounce back from a 3-1 loss to the University of Louisiana Monroe on Saturday.

In that contest, ULM held a 1-0 lead after the first inning before FGCU responded in the bottom of the fifth. Kiki Daniels hit a double that scored Sophie Wylie to tie the game at 1-1. However, the Warhawks regained the lead in the top of the seventh with a bases-loaded RBI walk, and Maryssa Zenzen added an insurance run with an RBI groundout.

Olivia Black leads the Eagles with a .467 batting average and a .529 on-base percentage. She also has a team-high four stolen bases. Sietske Drijvers and Tiffany Meek are tied for the team lead with six RBIs each, while Mackenzie Leiti holds a .625 slugging percentage.

In the circle, Victoria Ash (1-1) leads the pitching staff with a 2.00 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP in 14 innings pitched. Julia Bacoulis (2-2) has a team-high 19 strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings with a 2.86 ERA

No. 23 FAU 13, James Madison 2

No. 23 FAU (6-4) beat James Madison 13-2 in its final game of the Shriners Children’s Clearwater Invitational on Sunday.

The Owls scored four runs in the first inning on an RBI double by McKenna Mulholland, a two-run home run by Jesiana Mora, and an RBI double by Madison Inscoe. Mora added a two-run double in the fourth inning, and FAU capped the game with a seven-run seventh inning, highlighted by a three-run homer by Kylie Hammonds.

Makenna Lee (2-0) earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out five in 4 2/3 innings.

Mora leads the Owls with a .500 batting average, while Lily Holtje leads the team with 10 RBIs. Mulholland carries a .560 on-base percentage and a .778 slugging percentage.

Lee leads the pitching staff with a 2.14 ERA in 16 1/3 innings, and Autumn Courtney (2-2) leads the team in strikeouts with 18 in 17 1/3 innings.
