FORT MYERS, Fla. — University of Arkansas Rich Mountain transfer infielder Geovani Escandon has committed to the Florida Gulf Coast University baseball team for the 2026-2027 season. The right-handed hitting rising junior is a native of Plantation, Florida. The announcement of his signing was made on FGCU baseball’s official social media channels on July 1.
The move marks a homecoming for Escandon, who previously attended Western High School in Davie. Before coming to Arkansas, he began his collegiate career at Southwestern Illinois College.
Coming into the 2026 season with the Bucks, Escandon appeared in 22 games, leading the team with a .397 batting average, a .527 on-base percentage, and a .691 slugging percentage.
In his 68 at-bats, Escandon recorded 27 hits and scored 22 runs. He took advantage of extra-base opportunities, finishing the year with six doubles, one triple, four home runs, and 18 RBIs. He also drew 16 walks against 17 strikeouts. On the base paths, he capitalized on opportunities to steal, swiping 13 bases on 15 attempts.
Defensively, Escandon handled 70 total chances in the middle infield. He recorded 32 putouts, 32 assists, six errors, and helped turn five double plays, finishing his sophomore year with a .914 fielding percentage.
By securing Escandon’s commitment, FGCU lands a highly athletic player with plenty of upside and the opportunity to impact the game with his glove, his power, and his speed in a program looking to reload.
