FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Florida Gulf Coast University women’s soccer team (0-0-1) travels to Statesboro, Georgia, to face Georgia Southern University (1-0-0) at Bo Pitts Field on Sunday at noon in its second nonconference match of the 2026 season.

FGCU enters the road contest following a 0-0 draw against Big 12 opponent University of Houston in Wednesday’s season opener. Sophomore goalkeeper Madara Bome anchored the Eagles’ defense, securing her 10th career shutout, making four saves in the second half of the match. Sarah Greiner led the offensive attack making three shots, two of which were on goal.

Georgia Southern earned a 2-1 comeback victory over the Eagles’ Atlantic Sun Conference foe the University of North Florida on Wednesday. Forward Addison Comer scored the equalizer a little over 52 minutes into the match, receiving a pass from Caitlin Conroy before firing a high shot past the keeper. Midfielder Paisley Cathey netted the game-winner at approximately the 84th minute after Maryann Beach centered a pass to Cathey outside the top of the box, who finished into the top-right corner. Goalkeeper Quinn Wilson picked up the win, making two saves in the second half.

Sunday’s match marks the third all-time meeting between the programs. FGCU is 2-0 in the battle of the Eagles, claiming a pair of 3-0 victories in 2017 and 2018. Live streaming will be available on ESPN+.
