FORT MYERS, Fla. — Florida Gulf Coast University freshman runner Rhyen Foley was named the ASUN Conference Women’s Cross Country Freshman of the Week on Tuesday following her collegiate debut at the Florida Intercollegiate Invitational in Jacksonville on Friday, Sept. 4.

Foley placed 30th overall in a 168-runner field, crossing the finish line in 18:37.65 to help lead the Eagles to a fifth-place team finish. She was the third FGCU runner to score and placed among the top 11 ASUN competitors in the event.

“We are very proud of Rhyen,” FGCU head coach Argeo Cruz told FGCU Athletics. “She competed fearlessly this weekend and earned this well-deserved recognition. Watching her grow, learn, and run with her pack has been incredible. She is just getting started and we are thrilled to see her progression.”

Foley is the first FGCU runner to claim the weekly honor since teammate Tess Shultz earned the award on Oct. 22, 2025.

FGCU returns to competition on Sept. 18 at the Florida State Pre-Regional in Tallahassee.
