CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s soccer team concludes its three-match road swing on Saturday when the team plays ASUN Conference opponent Queens University of Charlotte at 6 p.m. at the Queens Sports Complex.

The Eagles (4-4, 0-2 ASUN) enter the match with momentum following a successful two-game road sweep in Texas. FGCU defeated Houston Christian 3-1 on Sept. 16 behind goals from Brooks Beeman, Flavio D’Angelo, and Emerson LaOrden, before rolling past the University of the Incarnate Word 3-0 on Sept. 18 with tallies from Javier Brown, Lucas Barsoe, and Aron Martinez. Brown’s strong defensive performance during the trip earned him ASUN Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday.

Martinez leads the FGCU attack this season with four goals, two assists, and 10 points while putting 12 of his 19 shots on target. LaOrden provides an efficient spark with three goals and seven points on just eight total shots, matching Beeman’s three goals. Meanwhile, Ricardo Felix anchors the distribution out of the midfield with a team-high three assists, and D’Angelo has accounted for a pair of game-winning tallies.

FGCU goalkeeper Eduard Garcia has anchored the defensive unit over his three appearances and starts, posting a 3-0 record with a 0.67 goals-against average and an 83.3 save percentage alongside one shutout. Marcelo Lacayo has logged the bulk of the minutes in goal with five starts and 450 minutes played, compiling 22 saves to anchor the backline through the early-season slate.

The Royals (2-6-1, 1-1-1 ASUN) return home looking to bounce back from a tough 3-0 setback against Atlantic Coast Conference opponent Virginia Tech. Queens enters Saturday’s match holding an even record in conference play, opening with a 3-1 loss to Lipscomb on Sept. 5 with Queens’ lone goal coming on a 34th-minute strike from Luis Vera Mayorca. The Royals bounced back to secure a 1-1 draw against Jacksonville on Sept. 12 courtesy of Cole Pumpian’s 18th-minute goal, before grabbing a 1-0 victory over Stetson on Sept. 19 on the strength of Rodrigo Canovas’ 61st-minute match-winner.

Vera Mayorca paces the Queens’ attack, leading the team with five goals, four assists, and 14 points while putting eight of his 20 shots on target. Iker Carew adds a strong secondary threat with three goals and three assists for nine points, while Vitor Battistelli, Isaac Chromey, and Pumpian have each chipped in three points apiece. Additionally, Enzo Resende anchors the attacking minutes with 12 total shots through eight appearances.

In net, Matthew Bademian has seen the most action for the Royals, logging four starts across five appearances while compiling a 1.39 goals-against average and 14 saves. Andre Gustavo Paz Moraes and Evan Hart have also split time between the posts, combining to anchor the defensive rotation through a challenging early-season schedule.

Following Saturday’s contest in Charlotte, the Eagles will return to Southwest Florida to host nonconference rival Florida International University on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
