VERO BEACH, Fla. — The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s golf team concluded its fall slate Monday, finishing 14th out of 15 teams at the two-day, three-round Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational held at Quail Valley Golf & River Club.

The Eagles improved their team total in each round, opening with a 300 before posting rounds of 297 and a team-best 294 in the final round to finish with a 54-hole total of 27-over 891.

Minnesota won the team title at 17-under 847, finishing five shots ahead of second-place Kansas. Memphis’ Yixiang Wang took home individual medalist honors at 11-under 205.

“We learned a lot about this group this fall,” FGCU head coach Lee McCoy told FGCU Athletics. “We won our home event at West Bay and saw what we’re capable of, and we also found the areas we need to clean up. Time to make some adjustments and come back in the spring ready to compete for titles.”

Christian Figueredo paced the Eagles, finishing tied for 33rd individually at 1-over 217. He carded a 1-over 73 in the opening round, a team-low 1-under 71 in round two, and wrapped up play with another 73 in Monday’s final round.

Figueredo sank 12 birdies across the tournament, tying for the 18th-most in the field. In round two, he fired a 1-under 35 on the front nine with birdies at Nos. 3 and 5 before adding three more on the back nine at Nos. 10, 14, and 15. His opening round featured a 3-under 33 on the back nine with birdies on Nos. 10, 14, and 17, while his final round included birdies on Nos. 3, 6, and 14.

Alfie Storer tied for 63rd at 7-over 223 (74-75-74), followed by Jay Wilson in a tie for 79th at 13-over 229 (74-77-78). Mason Fundingsland tied for 82nd at 15-over 231 (82-74-75), while Brody Stevenson tied for 87th at 19-over 235 (79-82-74).

FGCU returns to action in the spring when it travels to Atlantic Beach, Fla., for the SeaBest Invitational, hosted by Jacksonville University, Feb. 1–2 at Atlantic Beach Country Club.
