FORT MYERS, Fla. — Florida Gulf Coast University will serve as the host venue for the opening rounds of the ASUN Conference Women’s Soccer Championship on Thursday, Nov. 5, and Sunday, Nov. 8, at Pickering Field at the FGCU Soccer Complex, conference officials announced.
The Eagles clinched home-field advantage through the semifinals following a scoreless draw between Bellarmine University and the University of West Florida on Wednesday. FGCU enters the final weekend atop the conference table with 20 points (9-2-5, 6-1-2 ASUN), holding a one-point lead over second-place University of North Florida (9-4-4, 6-2-1 ASUN).
To claim the 13th ASUN regular-season championship in program history, the Eagles simply need to match North Florida’s Saturday result against Jacksonville.
Thursday’s first round opens with fourth-seeded match play against the No. 5 seed, followed by the No. 3 seed taking on the No. 6 seed. The opening-round victors advance to Sunday’s semifinals, where the winner of the 4/5 matchup will face the top-seeded team, and the 3/6 winner will play the No. 2 seed.
FGCU travels to DeLand, Fla., to close out the regular season against Stetson University (3-13, 2-7 ASUN) on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. at the Athletic Training Center, where a win guarantees the No. 1 overall seed and hosting rights through the tournament final.
