Fort Myers, Fla.– – This coming weekend Friday, Nov. 7 through Sunday, Nov. 9 the Florida Gulf Coast University men’s and women’s basketball teams, volleyball team, men’s and women’s tennis teams and the diving team will be in action.
FGCU men’s basketball (1-0, 0-0 ASUN) are in Champaign, Ill. on Friday, Nov. 7 taking on No. 17 ranked University of Illinois (1-0, 0-0 Big Ten) at 8:30 p.m. the game will be broadcast on NBC Peacock. The Fighting Illini are coming off a 113-55 win over Jackson State, while the Eagles come in after a 96-60 win over New College of Florida.
FGCU women’s basketball led by first year Head Coach Raina Harmon begins their season at home at Alico Arena on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. facing Davidson College (0-1, 0-0 A10). Davidson comes in off a 66-57 loss to Mississippi State.
FGCU volleyball (15-8, 9-3 ASUN) led by first year Head Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen will be home at Alico Arena on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. for a game against Bellarmine (11-13, 5-7 ASUN, at time of posting). The Eagles come in off a 3-2 win over University of West Georgia, while this game completes a two-game road trip for the Knights as they face Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY. on Friday, Nov. 7th.
FGCU volleyball will be celebrating ‘Senior Day’. The seniors on the team are graduate student Barbara Koehler, senior Hannah Borer, senior Alona Clinansmith and senior Iyanna Battle.
FGCU men’s and women’s tennis will host the Bonita Bay Collegiate Invitational at the Bonita Bay Club from Friday, Nov. 7 through Sunday, Nov. 9. Friday the men are on the court at 12:30 p.m. and the women at 4 p.m., on Saturday the women are on the court at 12:30 p.m. followed by the men at 4 p.m. and Sunday the men will play at 9 a.m. followed by the women at 12:30 p.m. The invite is open to Bonita Bay Club members and FGCU students and staff only.
The men’s tennis team will be playing against Florida Atlantic University, University of South Florida and Drake University over the three-day invite, while the women will play ASUN Conference opponent University of North Alabama, University of Colorado-Boulder and the University of Memphis
The FGCU diving team will be in Fort Lauderdale on Friday, Nov. 7 for the South Florida Diving Invitational hosted by Florida International University. Eagle divers Alexandra Andueza, Rylie Darkatsh, Sydney Joiner, and Brianna Rodetsky will be competing.
