FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Florida Gulf Coast University baseball team announced the addition of transfer outfielder Jeo Hernandez from Young Harris College to the program’s 2027 roster via its social media channels on June 30.

Hernandez, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound outfielder from Coral Springs, Florida, returns to Southwest Florida. The right-handed bat spent his freshman campaign in 2025 appearing in 21 games for the Mountain Lions, where he hit .293 with seven RBIs.

After a solid freshman season, Hernandez continued improving in his redshirt sophomore season of 2026. He started 57 of the 59 games he appeared in for the Mountain Lions. In 223 official at-bats, Hernandez racked up 84 hits—including 13 doubles, two triples, and 12 home runs—while generating 74 runs scored and a massive 69 RBIs. His heavy-hitting production was anchored by a .614 slugging percentage and a .377 batting average. His standout campaign placed him third overall on the team in batting average, runs scored, and RBIs, while his two triples tied for second overall.

Hernandez’s heavy-hitting production was highlighted by several strong single-game performances throughout the 2026 campaign. His power was on full display against King University (Tenn.) on March 28, where he blasted two home runs and drove in a season-high six RBIs. Earlier that month on March 6, he showcased his ability to spark the offense by scoring four runs against Ferrum College. Hernandez was also productive during postseason play against Wingate in mid-May; he mashed a season-high four hits, including a triple and a stolen base on May 16, following up a performance on May 14 where he logged a double and a defensive assist. Defensively, the corner outfielder proved reliable on the grass, tracking down a season-high four putouts against UNC Pembroke on April 30.

Beyond the raw power metrics, Hernandez displayed situational awareness and plate discipline. He drew 35 walks and was hit by nine pitches, elevating his on-base percentage to a .469 clip. He struck out just 29 times all year, while recording six sacrifice flies and three sacrifice bunts, and grounding into just eight double plays. When he reached base, Hernandez proved to be an active threat by swiping nine stolen bases to tie for the team lead—a dynamic speed-and-power combination that should translate well to the FGCU lineup.

A graduate of Coral Springs Charter who originally began his collegiate path at Florida SouthWestern State College, Hernandez joins the Eagles as a rising junior with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Hernandez joins an FGCU squad that is currently reloading and he will look to make an impact in the Spring 2027 season.
