FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Florida Gulf Coast University baseball team continued to reload from the transfer portal, as the Eagles announced on July 5 via social media the signing of University of Arkansas Rich Mountain infielder and catcher Andrew Stancin for the 2027 season.

The Fernandina, Florida, native heads to Fort Myers alongside his fellow Bucks teammate and recent FGCU transfer commit Geovani Escandon.

Stancin comes to the Eagles as a rising junior following a highly productive 2025–2026 junior college campaign with the Bucks, where he finished second on the team in hits (57), runs scored (41), on-base percentage (.466), and slugging percentage (.687). The 6-foot-2, 205-pound transfer hit .343 across 51 games and 166 at-bats, while leading the Bucks in doubles (16), home runs (13), RBIs (47), and walks (32). He also stole five bases and was only struck out 47 times.

Defensively for UA Rich Mountain, Stancin provided stability behind the plate as a catcher, while also playing at first and third base. Across 51 games, he anchored the defense with 258 total chances, leading the team with 204 putouts alongside 41 assists and 13 errors for a .950 fielding percentage. He tied for the team lead with nine double plays turned while allowing eight passed balls. Behind the dish, runners attempted 22 stolen bases against him, with Stancin throwing out three to log a .136 runners caught stealing rate.

Prior to playing for the Bucks, the Stanton College Preparatory School graduate spent his initial collegiate season at Daytona State College.

Stancin has three seasons of collegiate eligibility remaining based on the NCAA’s new ‘5-in-5’ eligibility model.
