FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Florida Gulf Coast University baseball team continues to reshape its roster ahead of the upcoming season, announcing the signing of former University of South Florida outfielder Dawson Mock via social media on July 17.

Mock, a rising senior, comes to Fort Myers after spending three seasons with the Bulls. Under the NCAA’s “5-in-5” eligibility model, Mock will have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Eagles.

A native of Mayo, Florida, and a graduate of Lafayette High School, Mock provides FGCU with speed and depth across the outfield.

During the 2026 campaign at South Florida, Mock appeared in two games, recording one plate appearance. His appearance came on Feb. 21 during a 29-4 run-rule victory over Georgia Southern, where he entered as part of a six-run sixth inning and drove in a run with an RBI groundout to second base to give the Bulls a 28-4 lead.

In 2025, Mock played in 15 games, recording five at-bats, one hit, four runs scored, and three stolen bases. He hit .200 on the year and was relied upon as a pinch-hitting option, going 1-for-4 in those situations.

Mock saw his most extensive collegiate action as a true freshman in 2024, appearing in 23 games with three starts. That season, he collected three hits, two walks, five runs scored, and one RBI. His first collegiate hit came as a pinch-hitter against North Florida on March 5, followed by a triple against Memphis later that month.

Mock joins an Eagles squad looking to reload its lineup following recent departure announcements to the professional ranks.
