FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Florida Gulf Coast University women’s swimming and diving program may need to start checking the pool deck for roster limits.

For the second time ever, the Eagles discovered a pint-sized reptile attempting to log laps at the FGCU Aquatics Center. FGCU head coach Dave Rollins shared pictures and a video to Instagram on Friday, Sept. 4, showcasing a small alligator swimming through the open lanes, accompanied by the caption, “Guess who’s back, back again.”

Much like the program’s previous aquatic visitor, Friday’s intruder was small—though plenty agile as it navigated the water. The tiny gator caused no harm to student-athletes who maintained a safe distance from the uninvited guest.

Small alligators found in campus recreational facilities are safely captured and released into appropriate natural habitats.

Rollins’ squad, which opens its official competition slate later this fall, remains focused on traditional collegiate in-state foes.
