Champaign, Ill.— The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s basketball team (1-1, 0-0 ASUN) lost 113-70 to the University of Illinois (2-0, 0-0 Big Ten) at the State Farm Center in Champaign, Ill on Friday.

Despite the loss there were some bright spots for the Eagles. J.R. Konieczny finished with 26 points including three 3-pointers, while Jordan Ellerbee scored 12 points. Isaiah Malone, Konieczny and Ellerbee finished tied for the team lead in rebounds each with five.

Kylan Boswell led the Fighting Illini with a double-double of 31 points and 10 rebounds. Keaton Wagler scored 22 points. David Mirkovic had a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Zvonimir Ivisic finished with 16 points.

FGCU returns home to play Georgia Southern at Alico Arena in Fort Myers, Fla. on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m.
