Florida Gulf Coast University athletics has basketball, swimming and diving, and volleyball in action this coming week from Wednesday, Nov. 19 through Friday, Nov. 21.

The FGCU women’s basketball team (1-1) travels to travels to Fairfax, Va. to play George Mason University (3-1) at EagleBank Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m.

FGCU is coming in off a 92-37 win over Ave Maria on Thursday, Nov. 13. The Eagles had five players finish with 10 or more points in the game with Karina Gordon scoring 24 points, Eve Alexander scoring 17, Nay Staton scoring 15, Cerina Rolle scoring 11 and Sinai Douglas scoring 10 points.

George Mason is coming off a 61-54 overtime win over Georgetown on Friday, Nov. 14. The Patriots finished 26 of 73 shooting, including 3 of 18 from 3-point range they also made 6 of 10 from the free throw line.

Kennedy Harris led the Patriots scoring 21 points including three 3-pointers. Zahira Walton added 17 points and MJ Johnson had a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds.

FGCU men’s basketball (2-2) travels to Birmingham, Ala. to play Samford University (3-2) at Pete Hanna Center on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m.

The Eagles are coming off a 91-73 win over Chattanooga on Saturday, Nov. 15. J.R. Konieczny led the Eagles scoring 24 points, Rahmir Barno scored 20, Jordan Ellerbee scored 14 and Michael Duax scored 12 points.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 84-77 overtime win over ASUN foe Central Arkansas on Sunday, Nov. 16. Samford finished 28 of 68 shooting including 15 of 44 from 3-point range and 13 of 18 from the line.

Jadin Booth led the Bulldogs scoring 21 points including five 3-pointers. Keaton Norris scored 18 points including four 3-pointers. Dylan Faulkner scored 16 points and grabbed a team high eight rebounds. Norris Cade added 12 points including a three and Isaiah Campbell-Finch finished with 11 points including three 3-pointers.

FGCU swimming and diving travels to Houston, Tx. for the Phill Hansel Invitational hosted by the University of Houston, the invite starts Wednesday, Nov. 19 and concludes Friday, Nov. 21.

FGCU volleyball (19-8, 13-3 ASUN) returns from a three-game road trip for the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship hosted by the Eagles at Alico Arena in Fort Myers from Thursday, Nov. 20 through Sunday Nov. 23

FGCU will play University of North Florida (13-16, 7-9 ASUN) in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m.

The Eagles recently beat the Ospreys 3-0 in Jacksonville, Fla on Saturday, Nov. 15. the win earned FGCU the ASUN Regular Season Championship.

Barbara Koehler led the Eagles with 20 kills including an ace. Katie Gielas finished with 10 kills. Reese Burry had 13 digs and Julija Grubisic Cabo finished with 10 digs. Hanna Borer led the Eagles with 23 assists and Erica Muhizi recorded five blocks.

Kailey McKnight finished with a double-double of 12 kills and 15 digs for the Ospreys. Kendall Newbold had eight kills and Mackenzie Piester finished with seven kills. Sofia Dawson had 19 assists and Kierstyn McFall finished with four blocks for UNF.

A win and the Eagles advance to the semifinal on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. and a loss eliminates them.
